Ingredients:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 cup marinara sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil leaves, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or olive oil.
Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. The chicken does not need to be fully cooked at this stage, as it will continue to cook in the oven.
Transfer the partially cooked chicken breasts to the prepared baking dish.
Pour marinara sauce evenly over the chicken breasts.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of each chicken breast, followed by grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
