Ingredients
2 1/4 teaspoons (1 envelope) active dry yeast
1 1/3 cups warm water (about 110 °F or 45 °C)
2 tablespoons of the olive oil
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
Optional: 2 teaspoons garlic powder or Italian seasoning to spice up the crust
How to Prepare:
Activate the yeast:
In a large bowl dissolve the sugar in warm water. Sprinkle active dry yeast over water and let sit for about 5 minutes or until the mixture becomes foamy.
Mix the dough:
Add the olive oil salt and little by little flour to the yeast mixture starting with 3 1/2 cups of flour (add garlic powder or Italian seasoning if desired). Remove with a wooden spoon until a smooth dough forms. If the dough is too sticky add more flour little by little until you get a manageable dough.
Amassar:
Roll the batter onto a floured surface and knead for about 6-8 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Add a little more flour if the dough gets sticky during kneading.
First take:
Place the batter in a greased bowl turning it over once to grease the top. Cover it with a clean kitchen towel or paper film and let it sit in a warm place for approximately 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Shape up and take two:
Beat the dough to release the air bubbles. Split the dough in half (for two pizzas) or leave it whole for a large pizza. Extend or press the dough to give it the desired shape in a baking tray or pizza mold. Cover and let it sit for 20-30 minutes more to get Pizza Hut’s signature thickness of dough.
Prebaked (optional):
For a crispier crust pre-bake the molded dough at 220°C (425°F) for 6-7 minutes before adding the ingredients. This step is optional.
Add ingredients and bake:
Top pizza dough with your favorite cheese sauce and toppings. Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (425°F) for 15-20 minutes or until the dough is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
