Trisha Yearwood Apple Dumplings

Ingredients:
2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 cup unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 can (12 oz) Mountain Dew soda
Vanilla ice cream for serving (optional)

Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cut each apple into 8 wedges.
Roll each apple wedge in a crescent roll, starting at the wide end. Place in the prepared baking dish.
In a saucepan, melt the butter. Add the sugar and cinnamon, stirring until combined.
Pour the butter mixture over the apple dumplings.
Pour the Mountain Dew around the edges of the dish.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
