Purple velvet cake recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons purple food coloring (adjust to desired shade)

For Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth and well combined.
