Cherry dr pepper cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 can (12 ounces) of Dr Pepper
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of maraschino cherries, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of cherry juice (from the jar of cherries)
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, Dr Pepper, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  3. Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and 1/4 cup of cherry juice into the batter.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl. Add more milk if needed to reach your desired consistency.
  7. Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  8. Poke holes all over the top of the cake using a fork or toothpick.
  9. Pour the remaining 1/4 cup of cherry juice over the top of the warm cake, allowing it to soak in.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the top of the cake.
